We provide quality instruction using a modern methodology incorporating the current “best practices”.

Practitioners in the field utilizing the most current research have built our approach.

We are continually breaking new ground through the production of videos, educational materials, and programs such as the Six Step Process for Initial Response and Urban Search.

Our Courses

All our courses meet or exceed current National Search and Rescue Secretariat guidelines (Public Safety Canada) and CSA National Standards.

Real map problems from local and national cases in both the urban and wilderness environment are utilized for the tabletop exercises in emergency management, search management courses. The multimedia approach used to present Emergency Management, Search and Rescue Management materials includes actual footage from SAR missions.

The textbooks, handbooks, and additional handouts from a cadre of experts comprise a resource package that students can reference in the future.

Our Instructors

SARI instructors are all respected practitioners. They are active members of Search and Rescue, Emergency Management teams, not just academics or instructors. They are also experienced in emergency management.

Their personal field experiences in search and rescue, disaster response, and tactical situations in both wilderness and urban settings are invaluable resources for their students.

Our instructors have been presenters at Provincial, National and International conferences and have acquired extensive experience in adult education. They stay current by working with the best resource people from around the globe.

Our Courses

Train the Trainer for Basic Search and Rescue Skills

A three-day course to provide prospective trainers with the latest techniques and practices in instructing basic search and rescue skills. A complete training package provided to each trainer along with the SAR Skills Handbook.

Incident Command System Levels I-100, I-200, I-300, I-400, I-402

A North American Standard for managing critical incidents. Public Safety, Law Enforcement, and Fire ICS instructed. Books and costs vary depending on the level of training required.

Emergency Management Training

Comprehensive Emergency Management requires a proactive, on-going commitment to emergency management that is based on an accurate hazard and vulnerability analysis and firm support from executive levels. Considers emergency management on a daily basis in everyday planning and government business. Courses developed and structured to meet the requirements of multiple agencies from multiple jurisdictions from Basic Emergency Management to a 40 hour course.

Managing Emergency Operations Centers

An EOC typically operates as a facility designated for information gathering and analysis during and emergency. It is also a place where executive decisions concerning the emergency are made and where the resulting resource coordination and emergency response activities take place. EOC activities include communications and dissemination of information or instructions to employees, other organizations, and the public. Prior to any EOC activation, a clear understanding of the facility functionality is required. Courses are designed to facilitate the training and development of EOC personnel from single agency to multiple agency, multiple jurisdiction staffing.
